Need Help please
Help me find something please.
I need your help out there. I know there’s not a lot of people out there who still read me but if you still do, I’d be forever in your debt.
There’s a poem my mom loved. She could never remember the name/author/entire poem. It was in one of her reading text books when she was very, very small. I’d say 1949-1955 or so.
The part she always remembered was something *but not exactly* “the stars in the sky shone like a field of daisies.” Something close to that.
We don’t have a reverend or anything for her funeral, but I’d like to find that poem and have someone read it for her. I’m not sure if it can be found, but it would bring me great comfort if it could.
-Thank you.

I don’t know how much any of this helps, but I’ll keep looking….

I’ve had a swift hunt, but haven’t come up with a lot, I’m afraid (I’m late for work) but I will look some more later – in the meantime, is this close?
Stars are the daisies that begem
The blue fields of the sky,
Beheld by all, and everywhere,
Bright prototypes on high.

I know you mentioned Daisy’s but there is a line in Wordsworth’s ‘daffodils’
the 2nd stanza is:
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
Daisies
by Evaleen Stein
At evening when I go to bed
I see the stars shine overhead;
They are the little daisies white
That dot the meadow of the Night.
And often while I’m dreaming so,
Across the sky the Moon will go;
It is a lady, sweet and fair,
Who comes to gather daisies there.
For, when at morning I arise,
There’s not a star left in the skies;
She’s picked them all and dropped them down
Into the meadows of the town.
Best wishes,
Gaz
Sorry – managed to lose the formatting. The link is here: http://www.apples4theteacher.com/holidays/summer/kids-poems-rhymes/daisies.html
I hope one of these poems was just what you’re looking for
I don’t have any words that would help. But know that I am deeply sorry for your loss.
*hugs*
Thoughts and prayers are with you Texie.
Oh my. Some how “my condolences” just doesn’t cut it. Hopefully the poem you are looking for has already been found in the comments. Nonetheless, I will do a few searches.
I’ve been looking again this afternoon but haven’t found any that haven’t been linked here already – sorry, hon. I really hope it’s one of the ones people have come up with.
Now I’m gonna go slap Gaz for copying one of the ones I linked
So much
to you..
I’m sorry.
I am so sorry, you are in my thoughts
*hug*
I’m sorry for the pain of your loss, my husband died and the effect on my kids was horrific. Now I’m facing a life threatening disease (brain cancer), so my kids are especially freaked out and my worry for them is constant
Sorry for your loss… Know that my thoughts are with you..
